- Rare Disease and Oncology, are almost exclusively reliant on an effective Medical Affairs team. Orpharm relies heavily on its Medical Affairs function, starting at the top with our Medical Doctor Pavel. Patient recruitment is critical in the Rare Disease & Oncology space, and even more so in the Ultra Rare segment where it takes a through understanding of both the disease state and the medical community. The medical affairs team plays a pivotal role in working with specialists not only in education but equally in finding and diagnosing patients
- The Medical Affairs team, being completely separate from any commercial function, also acts as an independent monitor of our corporate compliance and ethics function
- Key Activities the team perform : Coordinating Named Patient Programs (NPP) & Expanded Access Programs (EAP) Liaising with multiple institutes for genetic confirmation, working with patient organisations and physician organisations, Sharing and discussing clinical knowledge gained from trials to health care professionals and stakeholders, Supporting Patient Support Programs (PSP’s), as well as the importance of managing the Key Scientific Advisors
- Orpharm is also an active member of the Rare Disease Association and participates in DUMA discussions on medical priorities
